Little Nannette does not have and will never have the use of her
hind legs. A car accident crippled this little dog, and her entire
world for the past three years prior to coming into rescue had been
spent in the bottom half of a plastic kennel, sorrounded with soft
pillows, her toys and her snacks, right in front of the television set.
Since coming into the FBVillage's care, Nannette's world has
considerably expanded.
She has the run of the
house, and she sleeps in bed with her foster mom. She has even
gone on catering jobs with her foster mom, so she is a seasoned
traveler. Nothing is going to keep our Nannette from seeing as
much of the world as she possibly can.
Nannette still loves
watching television, and she has her favorite "shows" (with her doggy
attention span, they're all commercials!) - Frontline, Beneful, Iams,
the Nasonex bee, the Chips Ahoy cookie. She loves anything with
animals, animation or babies in it. She even has the commercials
memorized. Any family interested in adopting her is going to have to
own a television set, the bigger the better.
Nannette is calm, friendly and outgoing
with the people she knows, but she can b e
apprehensive around strangers, even resorting to barking and nipping.
She behaves herself
around French
Bulldogs and other small dogs, but she can be aggressive around larger
dogs and will nip at them. She is protective of her food and toys, but
not overly aggressive. She does enjoy chasing cats and can scoot along
very quickly when she wants to.
Her hind legs were paralyzed due to a spinal fracture, and she only has
the use of her front legs. She wears a diaper all the time, and is
very cooperative and good natured about having it changed. She
goes through 4-6 diapers a day plus baby wipes at changing time.
She needs daily medication to contract her bladder to express urine,
which averages $60 a month - one medication comes from chain pharmacy
and the other is special ordered from a compounding pharmacy. Her
veterinary care is currently up to date. She is crate trained and
housebroken, although she certainly doesn't want to spend any time
sitting in a crate if she can help it.
Nannette needs a home where there are no small children to argue with
over her snacks and toys. She would be fine
around older children or teenagers. She will need someone to be
home with her during the day. She loves to watch television and
chew on her Nylabone wishbone and stuffed animals in front of the set,
so another couch potato, even a canine one, with the same taste in
television programs would be ideal! She is used to having the run
of the house, and because of her handicap a home with no
stairs is best. She has gone down steps herself but can't go up any
height over one inch. She gets around better on carpet than tile or wood
floors. She is like a normal dog in every way except for being on two
legs instead of four!
Nannette has bonded very
quickly with her foster mom, and she loves to give her kisses and play
on the ground with her. This is a French Bulldog like any other,
that craves giving and receiving love. If you have a spot in your
heart for this little girl, please contact us!
