Kirby was wandering the streets when he was picked up as a stray and taken to a California animal shelter, where he was spotted and bailed out by an FBV volunteer.  Kirby arrived into his foster home in sad shape, dirty, with overgrown toenails, a upper respiratory infection and a nasty ear infection.  We have to say, this dog cleaned up very nicely!

Kirby is a very intelligent young French Bulldog who gets along with other dogs, with cats and with all of the people that he meets.  Make no mistake, however, this boy is much  too smart for his own good, and he needs a firm set of rules to live by, or else he would be running the house! He does have a bad habit of guarding anything he can convince himself belongs to him. Fortunately for the FBVillage, and for Kirby, his foster mom is a rescuer of German Shepherd Dogs and wily in the ways of would be wicked dogs, as well as a devoted French Bulldog owner.

Kirby is crate trained and housebroken, but keep in mind that any dog in a new situation may have a few accidents until he learns his new schedule.  His foster mom has also spent considerable time teaching him basic obedience and making sure that he knows how to behave.  Kirby does have food allergies, with turkey being the worst.  His ears will require diligent cleaning and ongoing care to keep  them healthy.  Currently, he is doing well on a raw diet, and he needs to remain turkey and grain free to prevent allergies giving him further problems, especially with regard to his ears.  Other than that, he has no apparent health issues, and he is current on his veterinary care.

According to his foster mom, Kirby has been a delightful houseguest.  He likes to travel and is a really fun companion.  Kirby fancies himself a social butterfly and is happiest when he is surrounded by admirers.  Kirby doesn't enjoy or require a great deal of exercise so a very active home would not be a good choice for him.  All this little guy wants is someone he can stick to like a burr, he wants to share every experience.
