Elroy is breathing easier

Tyree August 10th, 2008

Elroy underwent surgery on Thursday and is recuperating under the watchful eye of his foster mom who, ever the opportunist, created a comfy spot on the couch where she can love on him as much as she can. He will only tolerate her mothering for about a half hour before politely asking to be put down. She is hopeful her persistence will wear him down, though, and he will soon become a typical Frenchie attention hog.

Elroy had a centimeter and a half taken off his palate and had his nares opened up. The vet who did the surgery remarked that his tongue was probably the largest he had ever seen. Now, he is breathing easier and enjoying life (and his food) much more. While under, he also had his more manly parts removed. Apparently, he was not happy with this particular life-altering event, but his foster mom thinks he will get over it.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Elroy!

Update on Elroy

Tyree July 24th, 2008

Elroy’s foster mom, Adair, has been reporting good things from our latest K-Kid. His vet visit was a huge success - no major health problems except he will need surgery on his palate and nares, which we expected. He was a little nervous at the vet, but submitted to the exam and even allowed them to cut his nails.

He also continues to improve in his new home life and follows Adair everywhere. He loves to play with his foster sister but will come looking for Adair if she is out of sight for too long. Elroy doesn’t seem to have much of an appetite but she thinks that with a little help from some neighborhood boys, he will be eating with gusto in no time. Can you say cheese?
