Fairies & Frenchies, Oh My!

Tyree September 16th, 2008

Remember Rocky? Well it seems that our little (we use the term loosely) floppy-eared, Frenchie mix has settled quite nicely into his foster home. He loves to play with the other dogs in the house, especially the ladies. He is not the typical lap hog most of us come to expect out of our French Bulldogs, but he does enjoy belly rubs and sleeping next to his foster mom on the bed. He has even warmed up to his foster dad. His foster mom reports no serious food or toy aggression on Rocky’s part; although he did harumph once at the other dogs when there was food around, but after a quick time out, he straightened his act.

He loves children and even has his own personal fairy princess to hug him at night. Now that’s the good life!

Edmund joins the Village

Tyree August 1st, 2008

This debonaire dude was sprung from the Alachua County Humane Society in Gainesville, Florida this past weekend by one of our Village volunteers. He just finished treatment for heartworm and is a little thin, but plenty strong. Although we cannot say what he’s mixed with, he seems to have the typical Frenchie disdain regarding rain and tall grasses. His foster family reports that he is an absolute charmer and convinced at least 5 ladies at the shelter thrift shop that they needed to give him at least 3 cookies apiece! He is not one for taking pictures, but his foster mom promises she will make him into photo hog soon enough.

Celebrating in style

There seems to be no end to the excitement in Benny’s life. First it’s a new haircut, then some new duds, and now a parade. Mr. Benny and foster Ma, Linda, decided to spend the day at a 4th of July parade (properly attired, of course) with lots of food, dogs, people, loud noises, horses, and did I mention more FOOD! Although Benny had his own special cookies, he still tried to convince people that they ought to share their meals with him as well. No one gave him anything, but there was this little girl with some caramel popcorn…

Benny was quite impressed with the parade. He enjoyed watching the horses, trucks, and marching bands go by and the loud music did not phase him one bit. Eventually, he realized that his foster mom cast a wonderful shady shadow, and so he laid down at her feet and went to sleep. What a fuzzy little angel!
