Fluffy went to a specialist last week and had an abdominal scan done. No masses were found, which is a relief. However, she also had a GI profile, a liver panel and a pre/post bile acid test. If nothing significant is uncovered in her panels, then she will have a surgical intestinal biopsy and simultaneous colonoscopy.
Even with all the poking and prodding, Fluffy has been a doll! She is a sweetheart to everyone she meets. Her foster mom, Nancy, has her on a boiled chicken and rice diet that she is doing much better on. This morning she had a massive bowel movement and the leaking seemed to improve. That’s quite an accomplishment for this little gal! You go Fluffy!

Foster mom, Heather, reports that little Otis is doing well although he is still shy around strangers. Not surprising really considering the puppy mill conditions he came from. However, under the loving care of Heather, he has begun to trust again and will now sleep beside her on the bed. He is also playing with the neighbor’s dog and doesn’t seem to mind the cats. Here is a picture of Otis waiting for a treat. What a ham!

Well the little guy is living the good life in New Hampshire! He’s a happy young dog who loves all living creatures, big and small!

Beefy is facing several surgeries before he can board the French Bulldog Bus to his forever home. He’s such a happy fellow, even with all of his health problems, that we can’t imagine what he will be like when he’s feeling great. He was neutered about four weeks ago and had a large hematoma removed from his ear at the same time. Surgery number one! As is Beefy’s style, he came through with flying colors.
Beefy is scheduled to have his second surgery on July 1, this time to trim his palate, so that he can breathe more easily. After his palate surgery, the Beef will be evaluated for surgery on his ears. His ear canals are stuffed so full of polyps due to recurring ear infections that we suspect he can no longer hear. We are hoping that after the surgeries on his ears and with a little divine intervention, he will be able to hear when we tell him how special he is and whisper to him about the wonderful home the Bus will bring him to when he’s ready.
We’ll let you know next week how his palate surgery went. Keep your fingers crossed for the Beef!

Otis Too has had a very exciting week! First he gets a new foster home with some new siblings (can you say playtime?) and then he gets to go to work with his foster mom, Lisa. Here is the latest in the life of Otis Too:
Otis has come a long way already and I am pleased. When he is with my Frenchie, Kermit, everything is very calm. We went over to the clinic today and hung out. The clinic is Kermit’s favorite place as everyone absolutely loves him and he gets to see so many things. Otis hung out too and visited with all the people. He even wandered up to the dogs that came in and out for blood draws, etc. He was not rude towards any dog and seemed to be comfortable with the whole thing. He did keep one eye on me and one on Kermit at all times, but since we were nonchalant with the whole affair, he went along with it. He is learning the play bow and my other dog has learned that he really doesn’t mean anything when he barks, so they are now playing together as well.
Great news on Otis Too’s first day at the clinic!

Linda reports that our fuzzy Frenchie mix is settling slowly into his new Oregonian life (a far cry I’m sure from his previous Southern California lifestyle). He is still a bit unsure with strangers around the house, but seems to do fine out and about the town. Linda has bathed him (again!) and trimmed his nails. He handles this all quite stoically as Linda insists on absolute gentlemanly behavior during these grooming sessions. As she points out:
He respects a non negotiable situation and is very good about laying where ever you tell him to. He loves to crawl under the quiet time mat to lay on his doggy bed and give sneaky nibbles on your pant legs if you are not paying attention. However, he is very good about retrieving toys and loves to wear his dog coat after his bath, as you can see from the picture.
That is one good-looking dog in a coat!
